🎈 Nikon 24 70 F2 8 Z
Apr 18, 2020. #5. MNglass said: It is notable that Ricci found that the 50 S was the only prime that seemed to do better than the 24-70 2.8 S at apertures below around f4 or so. It speaks to how remarkably good the 24-70 2.8S is and how astonishingly good the 50 is. My impression is that once you get above f4 - f5.6 all these Z lenses shine.
With an overall DxOMark score of 28 points, the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8E is the 11 th-highest ranked zoom lens we’ve tested on the 36Mp Nikon D810.Out of four 24-70mm standard zooms tested on the D810, the new Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8E ranks in 3 rd place behind its predecessor, the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8G, and the third-party Tamron SP 24-70mm f2.8 Di VC USD.
Lenses with a built-in focus motor can autofocus even if the camera does not have its own focus motor. Has full-time manual focus. Nikon Nikkor Z 24-120mm f/4 S. Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 Di III VXD. With full-time manual focus, you can move the focus ring whilst it is in AF (autofocus) mode.
The 70-200mm f/2.8 S continues to put up excellent sharpness numbers that are only slightly lower than before, while the 24-200mm looks pretty uninspiring even compared to its own performance at earlier focal lengths. It’s still within the bounds of acceptable, but the 70-200mm is within the bounds of excellent.
"Optically both lenses perform very similarly – at long distances. But at closer focus distances the Nikon’s sharpness is superior. All-in-all Nikon’s Z 24-70mm f2.8 S remains the best 24-70mm zoom for your Nikon Z bodies even if Sigma should offer their 24-70mm f2.8 DG DN Art with Z-mount in the future."

This Z 24-120mm is a marvelous general-purpose lens. It's super-sharp, handles well, is reasonably priced and covers a perfect range for just about everything. I prefer it over either of the Z 24-70/2.8 or Z 24-70/4 because it zooms almost twice as far. Personally I prefer the Z 24-200mm VR over all of these because it zooms almost twice as far

Slightly larger because the Nikon S 14-24mm f2.8 and 24-70mm f2.8 S are lighter and more compact than they Canon/Sony equivalents. So when you think as a system, the slight advantage of the Canon 70-200mm f2.8 is gone and what's left is the higher risk and poorer image quality.
And the 24-120 + 85 is cheaper the the 24-70 f/2.8. If I am right then the 14-30 f/4 as a second lens is also a good choice. A other choice is the 24-120 or the 24-200. For kits is the 24-120 slightly better, but for travel the 24-200. The 24-120 is a S lens and better weather resistant than the 24-200.
fragilityv2. • 2 yr. ago. I can’t speak for the 28-75 but I had the 24-70 f4 S for a while and it was a great all around lens. The image quality was fantastic but you will hit a barrier with the low light if you can’t extend the exposure time or boost the ISO. I eventually sold it and snagged the f 2.8 version. fR3TTy.
Stopped down to F4 it becomes a lot better. But I see no point in having a 2.8 lens that is mediocre at best. IMO the Z 24-70 F4 is a better lens, sharper, faster, lighter. The Z 24-200 is sharper. Z 28-75 could maybe be compared to the Z 28mm F2.8 or Z 40mm F2, but I did not had the oportunity to test those, so I can't tell.

This new Z-mount lens is a million miles from the giant 24-70mm f/2.8 F-mount lenses for Nikon’s DSLR cameras. The Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/4 S has the same zoom range as these monsters, but is much smaller and lighter. Update: We've just posted our Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S review.
